Since 1996, Jannie Kruize has worked in Mozambique. After she had been connected for a number of years with an orphanage in Inhaminiga, in the interior of the Sofala Province, a new orphanage was set up in 2002 under her leadership in Marromeu - even deeper in the interior. For nearly six years the new orphanaged 'served' as a safe hiding-place and work-place for children who could not be cared for at home, either because their parents were no longer alive, or because one of the parents had absconded, and temporary care became necessary. Besides, the starting-point and purpose is not that the children should reside permanently in 'Ruama' if a possibility exists, or can be created, where an attempt is made to have the children placed back in their own family environment. Alongside the immediate work of the orphanage, there is also the so-called milk-project that goes under the name of 'Miriam,' which is of great importance. It functions in the vicinty of the orphanage, where milk is supplied to a group of children on a regular basis. They live ordinarily at home, but their parents can get help from the orphanage in the form of milk-powder. Every week they can come and get as much milk-powder as they need for a week. In particular, since the famine that was clearly developing in 2006 within the area around Marromeu, the little "Miriam" milk-house has become an essential branch of the work. How can you help?
